Decatur Country Club Pool Supervisors, Lifeguards and Managers
Responsibilities
Pool
Manager Responsibilities:
The
pool manager will report to the pool 30 minutes before opening and stay 30
minutes late.The manager will also come
in and out during the day to check on supervisors and lifeguards.
1.Overseeing
supervisors and lifeguards

for supervisors and lifeguards

hour each week
*Schedule
audits for lifeguards while on stand
*Rotation
for stands
*Assigning
cleaning duties
2.Pool
and Pool Deck
*Checking
chemical levels in the pool
*Checking
pool and pool deck to make sure lifeguards and supervisors cleaned it
*Arrangement
of furniture
3.Safety
Equipment
*First
aid kit checked every morning and at closing
*Keep
first aid kit and safety equipment stocked
*First
aid sign in list
oEvery time someone
needs a band aid and etc. the name of the member must be recorded along with
the time.
4.Bathrooms
*Check
bathrooms every morning and every afternoon to make sure supervisors and
lifeguards cleaned the bathrooms and locker rooms
Lifeguard
Supervisors:
The
lifeguard supervisor will report to work 30 minutes before the pool opens and
will stay 30 minutes after the pool closes.

*Assigning
lifeguard responsibilities throughout the day
*Rotations
for lifeguards
*Watching
lifeguards throughout the day making sure they are doing what they are suppose
to be doing
*Conditioning
for lifeguards when they are caught not doing what they are suppose to do
2.Pool
and Pool Deck
*Placing
backboard and first aid kit on pool deck
*First
aid kit will be kept under the patio where the supervisor will be sitting
during the day
*Cleaning
pool and pool deck before opening and closing
*Cleaning
pool and pool deck throughout the day
3.Bathroom
*Checking
bathrooms every hour during the day
*Assigning
lifeguards duties to clean bathroom

Lifeguards:
The
lifeguards will report to work 30 minutes before they are due in if they are
opening the pool.The lifeguards will
stay 30 minutes late if they are closing the pool.Lifeguards who are reporting for afternoon
shift will need to be their 15 minutes before their assigned time.

*Watching
swimmers the entire time they are in the pool and on deck
*Making
sure swimmers obey rules of the pool
*Ready
to save a life at every second while on and off stand
*On
stand as soon as the first swimmer enters the pool
*Holding
tube and strap is on while on stand and rotating to another lifeguard
2.Supplies and work gear
*Girls
bathing suit (straps are on at all times)
*Boys
swimming trunks
*Sunglasses
*Whistle
*Sunscreen
*Tube
(must be around neck and in lap ready to save a life)
*Rescue
breathing mask on stand
3.Rules
*No
talking to guest, friends or other lifeguards while on stand
*Must
complete 1 hour of in-service each week to review skills and procedures
*Be
prepared at all times to be audited
oRecorded while on
stand without knowing
oThen recorded while
doing skills and procedures
oIf not passed the
lifeguard will be suspended for a week but will have to attend in-service
training
Pool
layout and Positions of Lifeguards
Lifeguards
will be located at each square.It would
be shallow 1 which is chair beside slide.Shallow 2 would be stand located in shallow end.Deep 1 would be stand located in deep
end.Busy days lifeguards may be placed
standing in the water on the shallow end.
Rotation
would be!!SH 1, SH 2, D1 Break 11/2 hr
rotations
The
rotation would take 3 guards plus supervisor to complete.This will put supervisor on stand also.
